Cellarhouse : electronic downtempo band from Norwich (UK), New York and Northern Spain.
Cellarhouse produce dark electronica that features driving synths, simple beats and orchestral textures which are incredibly powerful and exhilarating.
Formed during the pandemic of 2020 they have, to date, released seven EP's and three celebrated albums.
They describe their sound as eclectic electro-house with an undercurrent of menace. Their sound is hard to define, or label, and this shape-shifting genre of a band always defy their last release to surprise and confuse.
However, this musical project is underwritten by a worthwhile academic piece of work investigating the technical capabilities and ethical stance of AI generative media. Three years in the making, their research paper 'Artificial Creativity: Redefining the Boundaries of Contemporary Music through AI' is due for release later in the year. Cellarhouse: downtempo, chilled dark-wave... anything else chaps?
In 2024 they released only one track which, again, contrasted with previous releases. This new offering experimented with electro-pop, A.I and upbeat alternative funk. Fields of The Summer moved them in a new direction with their first attempt at integrating an AI lead vocalist. Their subsequent album Travelogue (Feb.25) and their final offering 'That Was...' (August.25) returned them to their natural home of intense downtempo Darkwave albeit with a production focus aligned to an academic research.
